British Machete Co. is about to launch the Vanguard Golok - Testing complete and results below
The Vanguard is approaching the launchpad. Testing has offered invaluable insight into the strengths of the design, and thankfully only a few areas in need of improvement.
The strengths of this blade, as proven in testing include:
Great all-round capabilities
Clearing brambles and nettles - The blade length really helps with slicing these whispy plants from a safe distance.
Limbing Apple, Blackthorn, Hawthorn and other common hedge growth - The belly, grind and well balanced weight of the blade all contribute to make a great tree limber.
Batoning - Surprisingly effective and the blades relative lightweight makes it a breeze.
Splitting kindling - The grind geometry and length (leverage) packs an explosive punch when it comes to kindling.
Detailed work choked-up on the ricasso - Sharp and deft enough to handle with ease.
Areas we have improved:
Reduced weight in handle
Chamfered the index finger grip
