The Chopra is intended to limb and process trees commonly found in the British Isles. It has the heft and blade geometry to fell a multiple-trunk Hazel with ease.
The Chopra Machete Satin colourway features a Satin-finish blade and Black Richlite Handles with ghost blue G10 liners.
It's upswept cutting edge keeps the weight raised and better balanced throughout a swing.
The forward weighted blade bites deep into hard wood and removes branches with ease.
The Chopra also excels at all heavy-duty camp tasks; replacing the need for a hatchet, froe and cleaver when out in the bush.
It is a batoning beast thanks to the intentionally raised forward spine. This spine shape has three major advantages over other machete designs:
1. The weight is where you want it - directly over the belly where most leverage and balance will be concentrated in a downward chop.
2. Batoning has a level platform to strike. This reduces the chance of wayward swings ricocheting off the spine.
3. Draw cuts provide enough spine for a secure grip with the supporting hand.
The Chopra features a primary sabre grind to limit pinching and aid deep cuts.
This blade is sharp enough to cut grass, but tough enough to avoid rolling the cutting edge easily.
It is made from CS80 Carbon spring steel for fast and effective sharpening and great edge retention. It will need sharpening from time to time and in CS80 this is easily achieved.*
Ergonomics is always at the forefront of our design philosophy. The smooth and sculpted handle is a beautiful combination of functional modern and traditional SE Asian shapes.
The ‘butt hook’ curve also swells to provide a comfortable and safe handle, giving hours of blister-free use. The handle length is extended for extra leverage chops.
The 'choked-up' forward grip with generous finger guard and unique ridges on the front of the thumb rise give amazing control for detailed work. Whilst the mid-grip is a perfect compromise of power and dexterity.
The finger guard has been carefully considered for safety; separated from the choil so as to avoid the index finger accidentally slipping onto the cutting edge. A bigger concern when swinging a machete or larger knife for an extended period.
It is a skeletonised full tang construction offering weight saving for extended duration and peace of mind when using this tool day in day out for serious work.
*As a Carbon Steel, you will need to keep your blade well cared for by keeping it dry and protected from rust.
We recommend using a light machine oil. Simply wipe off any excess foliage then carefully wipe with the oiled cloth to keep the steel gleaming.
